FAQ for Hypnobirthing

What is hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing uses relaxation techniques, positive language and visualisations to support you to be calm and focused during labour. It encourages you to release fears that you have surrounds childbirth and prepare for a positive experience.

Who is hypnobirthing for?

Hypnobirthing is not just for people wanting a natural birth. A lot of people who come on the course are planning on having pain relief during their labour. Many find the techniques really powerful and therefore do not feel they need medication when the time comes.

Hypnobirthing is for you whether it's your first or fifth baby or whether you are planning to have a vaginal or caesarean birth. There are lots of ways to make a caesarean birth more serene for you, your partner and of course your baby. Get in touch for more information.

Why KG Hypnobirthing?
KG Hypnobirthing is the original UK Hypnobirthing course, which is constantly being developed to reflect the latest evidence and research in childbirth. The KG Hypnobirthing Practitioner training course is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives and therefore enables me to provide a full antenatal programme. The programme teaches couples to use hypnobirthing techniques whilst also equipping them with the knowledge to understand their options and the implications of their choices.

When do you recommend coming on the course?

I recommend people coming on the course when they are 5-7 months pregnant. If you are eager to get started before 5 months then let me know and I can send you some resources such as the course KG CD and book. If you are more then 8 months pregnant you are more than welcome to come too, it's just the sooner you start the sooner you benefit from the strategies.

Does the cost include my birth partner?

Yes the cost is for you and your birth partner to attend the sessions.

Does my partner need to come to the sessions?

Hypnobirthing is most effective when you have your birth partner with you. This is because they can practise strategies with you and remind you of them during the birth. They also are your advocate during the birth so the course encourages you to dicuss your birth preferences and provides your partner with questions they might want to use during the birth.

You birth partner could be your life partner, mother, a friend or someone else you trust. If you are undecided who your birth partner is then don't worry you can bring a different person to each class.

Will hypnobirthing help my labour go to plan?

There is no set route for birth and therefore it is important to have birth preferences but not a set plan. The course prepares you by teaching you how to remain calm and focused during your birth. There are so many different ways to have a positive birth experience.

Will I be in a trance during labour?

Trance suggests that you won't be able to be aware of what's going on around you during labour and this is not the case. Some woman find they are talking to their birth partners throughout their labour and others find as labour progresses they feel like they are focused and in the zone.

Where do the classes take place?

Private classes and groups of up to 4 couples take place at my therapy room in Chaulden, Hemel Hempstead. There is also the option for me to come to your house if you want a private class for you and your friends. Get in touch for more information.
